Grandparents’ Day 2012 – Learning across Generations
October 17, 2012
October 16 marked Sacred Heart’s fourth annual Grandparents’ Day, sponsored by the Office of Mission Advancement. Sophomores invited their grandparents to campus for the morning. They enjoyed a continental breakfast, “Learning across Generations” – faculty and student presentations, songs from the upcoming musical, White Christmas, and a prayer service in the chapel. Sophomores were also available to take their grandparents on private tours.
Grandparents and sophomores alike thoroughly enjoyed the “Learning across Generations” part of the program, new this year, particularly the History-Government-Election year discussion with Mr. Marino and the preview of White Christmas. The time in chapel was especially meaningful, as each part of the service honored the bond between granddaughters and grandparents.
“My grandmother loves to hear about my day to day experiences at SHA and today she got to see it and be a part of it! The prayer service resonated with her because it was about hope, ” offered Alyssa Ajello ’15. “SHA is meant for sharing and no better people to share it with than our grandparents, ” she added.
