Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Exceeds Expectations – Enjoy the Photo Slideshow

November 15, 2017

More than 200 students, including male actors from twelve different schools, performed the stage version of the classic movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to thousands of audience members the weekend of November 3 and 4 at the historic Shubert Theater in New Haven. This year’s musical complemented our STREAM curriculum by telling the tale of inventors, scientists and dreamers who survive many challenges to arrive at a happy ending.

The talented cast included leads Madison Brenchak ’18 as Boris, Danielle Filardi ’18 as Goran, Alexa Mantovani ’19 as the Baroness, Jenna Basile ’19 as Jemima, and Veronica Ciccone ’18 as Truly Scrumptious. Male leads included Drew Waldron, a senior from Sheehan High School,  as Caractacus Potts; Ryan Solarzano, a senior at North Haven High School, as Gunther and Shaun Hillis, a senior at Hamden Hall, who played Grandpa Potts in his tenth Sacred Heart musical!

More than four hundred alumnae returned to see the musical and by all accounts this was one of the best! Originally called the “operetta,” the musical has taken place each year since the first students enrolled here in 1946. At each performance, alumnae cheered with the recitation of the line, “That’s the way the wind blows!”

Congratulations to the talented cast and crew, Director MaryLee Delaney, Producer Kim Curbow ’81, Choreographer Janet Gambardella Bracale ’77, Musical Director Chad Hardin, and SCSU interns Maria Saracco ‘ 12 and Joanna Barragan ’12.
