Every Drop Counts at Sacred Heart Academy
March 30, 2017
Inspired by Pope Francis’ desire to make caring for creation a focal point of his pontificate, President Sr. Sheila O’Neill, ASCJ, Ph.D., ’71 called on the Sacred Heart community to raise awareness and take action regarding the drought in Connecticut. Sister’s initiative—#EveryDropCounts – HeartsforH2O— included a school-wide assembly featuring Kate Powell, Regional Water Authority Community and Outreach Manager, where Kate discussed the seriousness of the current situation and ways to conserve. Students responded by posting ways they will conserve via social media and on post-it notes. Faculty responded by developing projects revolving around water within their disciplines.
Offered Sr. Sheila, “It is my hope that our community will find ways to reduce water consumption through this initiative, and, more importantly find a greater appreciation and respect for the many wonderful gifts we find on our Earth.”
