WQUN’s Ray Andrewsen – 2017 Auction Emcee

General Manager and Morning Host of AM 1220 WQUN, Quinnipiac University’s commercially licensed community radio station, Ray Andrewsen will serve as master of ceremonies at this year’s upcoming Auction.
A native of North Haven, Ray is this year’s Hamden Citizen of the Year. He has lived in Hamden for many years.
Ray has been with WQUN and QU for twenty years beginning with Quinnipiac’s ownership of the station. WQUN has provided publicity for over 400 community organizations and businesses in just the past calendar year alone. Ray has conducted thousands of interviews with community leaders and of people of interest during his time at the station, and the station has won numerous awards for news coverage and community service.
Ray is an active panel member of the Hamden Juvenile Review Board, a member of the board of directors of the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and host of its Friday Morning Marketplace program on WQUN, a member of the board of directors of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association, and president of the advisory board for the Salvation Army of New Haven. He is a graduate of the FBI New Haven Bureau Citizens Academy program. An active member of Spring Glen Church, Ray currently serves on the Board of Deacons. He has been a longtime member of the board of directors for Christian Community Action, Schooner Inc., Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers, and is a past president of the Ridge Hill Elementary School PTA. He has also served as assistant coach for North Haven American Legion Baseball.
Professionally, Ray has worked in markets as diverse as Washington, Boston, Middletown, and Waterbury as an operations manager, news anchor, and talk show host.
Ray lives in North Haven in an old Vermont-style farmhouse with his wife Lynn and flat-coated retriever dog Jackson. Their sons, Christian and Chandler, attend university out of state. Ray is a graduate of Syracuse University.
