Notre Dame to Honor Sr. Sheila at Knights of Honor Dinner
November 2, 2016
“Knights of Honor inductees represent all walks of life and exemplify the best of what Notre Dame offers the world. From alumni and parents to staff and loyal friends, those receiving the school’s highest award have contributed to their professions, communities, and the school in ways that shine a proud light on the Holy Cross Mission at work today. Sr. Sheila is being honored as a loyal friend and for bringing distinction to Notre Dame through a combination of personal achievement, dedicated service, and commitment to the school. She is one of ten individuals being inducted, all of whom have made a significant contribution to both Notre Dame and the greater New Haven community.” offered an administrator from Notre Dame.
Sr. Sheila’s family, the Apostles of the Sacred Heart, and members of our school community will gather with Sister on Saturday night when she receives this honor.
“We thank Sr. Sheila for her leadership and her vision—for all she has done for Notre Dame, Sacred Heart Academy, and the community-at-large. Sister truly lives by the doctrine Excelsior, the Academy’s motto. Excelsior, meaning ever higher, is the heart of our philosophy. Sr. Sheila’s commitment to educational excellence and her support and loyalty are gifts that we treasure. Thank you, Sr. Sheila, for being an example to all of us and for the many ways that you teach us to strive ever higher. We are so very proud of you,” shared Principal Sr. Kathleeen Mary Coonan, ASCJ, ’76.
