The Class of 2014 Graduates!
May 27, 2014
On Saturday morning, May 24th, in the Philip Paolella Recreational, Jr. Center, 128 members of Class of 2014 graduated from Sacred Heart Academy!
Commencement speaker Erin K. Larkin, Ph.D.,’92, associate professor of Italian at Southern Connecticut State University, urged the graduates to “Find what you love and figure out a way to make it work for your life, for your future.”
The Valedictory Address was delivered by Madeline Ross, who spoke to her classmates about what they had learned during their four years at Sacred Heart…to fail, to be compassionate, to experience success, to laugh, and most importantly to love.
The Salutatory Address was delivered by Olivia Kelly who spoke of her love of the ancient classics and compared Sacred Heart to Greek dramas and ancient Rome.
We also share with you the Graduates’ Prayer, given by Caroline Kohnert, number three in the class.
Following the conclusion of the ceremony, as has been done by many classes before, the grads gathered in front of the porte cochere to toss their caps into the air and say goodbye to Sacred Heart. There were lots of hugs, smiles, and tears of joy as classmates then said goodbye to each other and to the Sacred Heart teachers they leave behind.
Congratulations to The Class of 2014 – you have left your mark!
