Director of Guidance Named to SHU Counselor Advisory Board
November 20, 2013
Congratulations to Kerry Alexander, Director of Guidance, who has been invited to serve on the inaugural Sacred Heart University Counselor Advisory Board. Mrs. Alexander was recognized by the staff as a “counselor who provides immeasurable value to the college counseling profession” and thus selected to serve a three-year term.
The Counselor Advisory Board will be comprised of a diverse group of high school counselors that serve as a sounding board for new ideas for the University. Members will learn about student services, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships; as well as provide the University with critical feedback so that SHU may better serve students.
Mrs. Alexander looks forward to participating in discussions on the college admissions process, current educational trends, student recruitment and retention, and networking with other members of the counseling profession so as to bring best practices in college admissions back to the Academy.
Mrs. Alexander has served as Director of Guidance at Sacred Heart since 2009. She was formerly a guidance counselor in both the Southington and Stratford public schools and also an independent college admissions counselor. She did her undergraduate work in psychology at State University of New York, Geneseo and her M.A. in counseling at Long Island University. Sixth year study in educational leadership and development was completed at SCSU.
