Sacred Heart Academy and Notre Dame will co-host Dancing with the Knights this Saturday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall on the campus of Notre Dame West Haven.
The first-time event, a spin-off on the successful television show Dancing with the Stars, will feature seven couples competing in a dance contest, complete with judges, and audience participation. Gift card prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as a fourth prize for the fan favorite.
The seven couples competing are as follows:
Matt Bader and Rose Iannaccone ’16
Kyle Taylor Gatskin and Thairy Kovacks ’16
John Shanley and Colby Carlo ’15
Camillo Vanegas and Cameron Maselli ’13
Ned Vogel and Serena Sakheim ’14
Bobby Steele and Emily Pisciotta ’13
Steve Comeau and Ashley DeLucia ’13
Couples will compete in one three-minute round resulting in a champion crowned at the end of the night selected by both faculty judges and the audience. Every dance imaginable – from the cha cha, mambo, jive, swing, bachata to the samba – will be performed.
The Masters of Ceremonies will be Student Council presidents Jason Abate and Nicole Brown ’13. The faculty judges will be Mrs. Gunneson and Mrs. Henninger from Notre Dame and Mrs. Delaney and Mr. Alexandro from Sacred Heart. The audience will participate in the voting process via the Poll Everywhere feature where audience members can text their favorite dancers. (Standard text messaging rates will apply.)
“The couples have been practicing diligently in putting together their dance routines,” said Notre Dame Student Council moderator Mr. Xavier. He added, “Not only will the night be full of talented dance performances by both the SHA girls and ND guys, but we also anticipate a night with great laughs and entertainment.”
Notre Dame Student Council president Jason Abate offered, “It’s going to be an exciting night and we’re expecting to sell out. You are not going to want to miss out on such a historic event. We encourage you to support your classmates who have given so much of their time to give you guys a great performance.”
In addition to the dance contest, there will be a surprise dance performed by the Notre Dame seniors. However, the only way you will be able to view this special dance is to attend the event. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and can be purchased by seeing Mr. Xavier at Notre Dame or Mrs. D’Ambrosio at Sacred Heart Academy. Tickets at the door are $10.00.
